BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Hawai'i Pacific University acrobatics and tumbling team delivered a strong performance Friday, defeating Long Island University and Caldwell University in a tri-meet at LIU.
The Sharks posted the top score of the meet with a 247.205, finishing ahead of LIU's 233.490 and Caldwell's 210.190.
HPU opened the meet with a solid showing in the Compulsory event, scoring 35.600 behind strong marks of 9.600 in Pyramid and 9.500 in Toss to establish early momentum.
The Sharks continued to build their lead in the Acro event with a total of 27.950 across three heats, pushing their running total to 63.550. HPU followed with one of its strongest rotations of the day in the Pyramid event, totaling 28.900 with a pair of 9.700 scores in the second and third heats.
HPU added 26.100 points in the Toss event to remain in control heading into the final rotations.
The Sharks delivered another strong performance in Tumbling, scoring 49.775, highlighted by a 9.675 in Heat 5 and a 9.500 in Heat 6.
HPU closed the meet with a 78.880 in the Team Event to seal the victory and finish with the highest overall score of the day.
