AZUSA Calif. – The No. 5 Hawai'i Pacific University Acrobatics & Tumbling Team scored 251.771 points in falling in a tri-meet against No. 6 Gannon and No. 2 Azusa Pacific on Tuesday night at APU's Felix Event Center.
The No. 2 Cougars (3-0) scored 275.600, while the No. 6 Golden Knights (4-1) scored 269.590 as both grabbed wins over the Sharks (0-3).
HPU played from behind from the get-go, suffering costly falls in the Acro heat of the Compulsories that cost them 3.6 points the first time on the mat, and dropped 1.6 more in the Tumbling heat of the event. The Sharks totaled 34.15 after Compulsories. The Acro event saw the Sharks score 25.70 to fall further behind.
HPU improved in the Pyramid event, with the Sharks posting their best event in the Open Pyramid. Senior

HPU collected 88.45 points at the half, trailing APU's 96.05 and Gannon's 95.45.
The Sharks scored a 27.30 in the Toss event, a 53.450 in the Tumbling event and wrapped up the evening by scoring an 82.570 in the Team event, being judged 21.75 points behind the start value.
The Sharks return home to prepare for their next meet against No. 3 Oregon on Saturday, March 12 at The Shark Tank.
In comparing all the events, the Sharks received 38.949 points in deductions throughout the meet compared to the Cougars 19.84 points and the Golden Knights 24.625 points.
The Sharks will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars again as well as Gannon on Tuesday, March 1 at the Felix Event Center. The meet is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. HST (6 p.m. PST).
