Honolulu, HI — Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) is gearing up for an exciting 2024-25 men's basketball season with the addition of four talented recruits, solidifying their roster alongside returning key players.

Head Coach Nakanishi expressed enthusiasm about the new additions, emphasizing their potential to elevate the program to new heights. "The outlook is bright for our program with the addition of these four student-athletes and Jonas Visser," said Coach Nakanishi. "There's a lot of work ahead, but they will fit right into the culture set by our returners in our quest for a championship."

Pavle Kuzmanovic, a 6'5 guard from Loznica, Serbia, brings a wealth of experience from both international and Division I levels. "I chose Hawaii Pacific University because it has great academic programs and a diverse, welcoming community," Kuzmanovic remarked. "I'm excited to learn from experienced coaches, improve my skills, and be part of a supportive team."

Sherman Brashear, a 6'5 guard hailing from Rockwall, Texas, joins HPU with experience from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Western Kentucky University. "I chose HPU because Coach Nakanishi and Coach Cam welcomed me with open arms," Brashear stated. "I love the culture and standard that is being established here on the island."

Joshua West, a 6'3 guard transferring from Dominican University (IL), arrives at HPU after an impressive stint in Division III basketball. "I chose to join Hawaii Pacific as a student-athlete because it offers a unique blend of academics and competitive basketball," West explained. "I'm excited to build lasting friendships and immerse myself in the unique island community."

Hudson Yarbrough, a 6'8 forward and Maui native, rounds out the incoming class. "I chose HPU because I wanted to be a part of the winning culture that Coach Nakanishi has created," Yarbrough expressed. "Being from Hawaii, it gives me the opportunity to show other kids in Hawaii that it is possible to play at the next level."

These additions complement the return of key players such as Maj Dusanic, Diggy Winbush, and Charlie Weber, who have been instrumental in HPU's competitive presence in the PacWest Conference. With a blend of seasoned transfers and promising recruits, HPU aims to build on its successes and compete for a championship in the upcoming season.

Each recruit cited HPU's strong academic programs, supportive community, and the allure of competing in Hawaii as factors influencing their decision to join the Sharks. As the Sharks prepare for the 2024-25 campaign, anticipation runs high among players, coaches, and fans alike. With a mix of talent, experience, and a shared commitment to excellence, Hawaii Pacific University's men's basketball team is poised to make waves in the PacWest Conference.
