Hilo, HI – The Hawaii Pacific University volleyball team continued to search for their first win of the season, falling 3-1 to Bemidji State University on Saturday afternoon at Vulcan Gym in Hilo. Despite a strong second-set victory, the Sharks couldn't overcome the Beavers' aggressive play, dropping the match with set scores of 15-25, 25-20, 22-25, and 20-25.
HPU (0-6) found momentum in the second set, hitting a .138 attack percentage and capitalizing on Bemidji State's errors. However, the Beavers (2-2) responded in the third and fourth sets with efficient attacking, led by Ashley Crowl, who recorded a game-high 16 kills.
In the third set, the Sharks put together their best offensive performance of the match, hitting an impressive .385 attack percentage, with Lindsey Tapp leading the way with 10 kills overall. However, Bemidji State's strong blocking and service pressure—tallying 12 aces throughout the match—proved too much for HPU to handle.
