Sharks Push Biola in Competitive Sets at the Shark Tank

HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Hawai'i Pacific volleyball (4–15, 0–4 PacWest) showed flashes of strong offensive rhythm and defensive grit Saturday evening inside the Shark Tank, battling Biola University (11–5, 2–1 PacWest) through three competitive sets before falling 22–25, 28–30, 16–25.

The Sharks opened the match with their most efficient offensive start of conference play, hitting .308 in the opening frame behind the power duo of Sofia Cooper and Marley Sandoval. Cooper led HPU with 13 kills on .370 hitting, while Sandoval added seven kills and six blocks, a team-high for the night.

Set two saw both teams trade momentum in a thrilling back-and-forth battle that extended past regulation. Setter Jordyn McCutcheon dished out 19 assists, while Maile Salang added 14 to fuel the offense. Peyton McBride anchored the back row with 12 digs, and Taylor Kaoihana-Lee followed closely with 11.

Despite the 3–0 final, HPU's fight at the net and improved offensive balance were evident throughout the match, outpacing Biola in long rallies and keeping pressure on one of the conference's top attacking teams.

The Sharks continue PacWest action next week as they look to build on the offensive rhythm and defensive intensity shown at home.
