CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Hawai'i Pacific cross country teams hit the hills at the Pomona-Pitzer Cross Country Invitational, where both teams placed within the top-20 teams.
The Sharks men's team was the first to race and was led by freshman
Ray Gottschalk, who posted a time of 29:25.2, earning 104 points and placing 165th overall. Gottschalk was tailed closely by freshman
Drake Hanley, who finished just seven seconds later for a time of 29:32.8 to earn the Sharks another 108 points. Together, the Sharks men's team tallied 560 points to place 19th with an average mile of 6:04.Â
The Sharks' women's team raced second and put up their best result all season by beating two teams. The Sharks were led by sophomore
Carly Dyer, who scored 80 points with a time of 24:37.2. The Sharks women's team tallied 477 points to place 17th with an average mile of 6:57.
The Sharks will run again next Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 a.m. in the Hawai'i Hilo Invitational at the beautiful Grand Naniloa Resort Banyans Golf Course in Hilo, Hawai'i.Â
