HONOLULU – The Hawai'i Pacific University men's basketball team has secured its first commitment of the 2025-26 recruiting class with the signing of 6-foot-10 center Zane Gaul from Prescott High School in Prescott, Arizona.
Gaul brings an impressive combination of size, skill, and versatility to the Sharks. During his senior season at Prescott, he averaged 17.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 55% from the field. Despite his size, Gaul showcased a soft shooting touch from the perimeter, knocking down 21 three-pointers over the course of the season. His dominant presence helped lead Prescott to a stellar 22-7 overall record, including a perfect 12-0 mark in region play. For his efforts, Gaul was named to the 2nd Team All-4A Conference.
Head Coach Jesse Nakanishi had this to say about the signing: "we're thrilled to have Zane join our 'Ohana. His ability to both stretch the floor and dominate inside will be a tremendous asset for us. He's a winner and will fit right in with our culture here at HPU."
"I chose HPU because of the connections I made with the coaches and hopefully being able to come into the program and make an immediate impact," said Gaul. "I am looking forward to getting to work with the team and coaches and getting better every day."
Gaul marks the first addition to HPU's 2025-26 recruiting class as the Sharks continue to build a competitive roster for the future.
