HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University men's basketball standout Jonas Visser is officially heading to the professional ranks. The 6-foot-10 center has signed his first pro contract with Den Helder SUNS in the Netherlands, marking the next step in his journey after completing an impressive collegiate career that included a standout season with the Sharks.

Visser, a native of the Netherlands, capped off his college career at HPU during the 2023–24 season, where he averaged 9.9 points per game on 55.3% shooting, along with 6.1 rebounds in just over 25 minutes per contest across 29 appearances. His strong presence in the paint helped anchor the Sharks on both ends of the court and made him a consistent contributor in PacWest competition.

Before joining Hawai'i Pacific, Visser competed at the NCAA Division I level with University of San Francisco before transferring to Southern Nazarene University (NCAA D2) in Oklahoma. Thanks to updated NCAA eligibility rules, he was able to complete his final season with the Sharks.

In addition to his collegiate success, Visser recently represented the Oranje U24 National Team on a one-week tour in Japan, where the squad played three exhibition games against Japanese national teams. His signing with Den Helder SUNS marks the start of his professional basketball career and his return to Dutch soil, where he developed through the Landstede Hammers Zwolle youth program.

Visser becomes the latest HPU men's basketball player to join the professional ranks, continuing the program's tradition of preparing student-athletes for success beyond the college game.
