HONOLULU, Hawai'i — Hawai'i Pacific battled across all five courts Tuesday afternoon at Hunakai Park, earning a point at the No. 1 position in a 4-1 dual against Chaminade.
The Sharks saw a strong performance from the top pairing of Ella Schoene and Rosie Larkin, who delivered a straight-set victory at No. 1. The duo controlled both sets, defeating Chaminade's Kanoelehua Misipeka and Beele Wieczorek 21-19, 21-14 to put HPU on the board.
HPU pushed the Silverswords in multiple tightly contested matches throughout the lineup. At the No. 2 position, Jordan Pascone and Olivia Tangaan battled through competitive rallies before falling 21-11, 21-16. The No. 3 pair of Jordyn McCutcheon and Peyton McBride extended their match to three sets, responding after a first-set setback and forcing a decisive third before narrowly coming up short, 21-16, 19-21, 15-11.
At No. 4, Elle Grinstead and Aliyah Acchione fought through long rallies in a 21-16, 21-16 decision, while Maile Salang and Mia Ferdinand competed at the No. 5 spot in a 21-14, 21-13 match.
The dual marked another opportunity for HPU to gain early-season experience and continue building chemistry across the lineup.
The Sharks will look to regroup and continue developing as the season progresses.
