Sharks Open Beach Season with Competitive Showings Against Chaminade

HONOLULU, Hawai'i — Hawai'i Pacific University Women's Beach Volleyball opened the 2026 season with back-to-back duals against Chaminade at Hunakai Park, falling 4–1 in both contests while showcasing competitiveness across multiple courts.

In Monday's opener, the No. 1 pair of Ella Schoene and Rosie Larkin earned the Sharks' lone point with a straight-set victory, defeating Kanoelehua Misipeka and Audrah Johnson 21-15, 21-19. HPU also pushed two other courts to three sets, with Jordyn McCutcheon and Peyton McBride battling at the No. 3 position before falling 14-21, 21-14, 15-11, and Elle Acchione and Aliyah Baker forcing a deciding set at No. 4.

The following day, the Sharks again competed in tight matches across the lineup. Maile Salang and Mia Ferdinand delivered a highlight win at the No. 5 position, rallying for a three-set victory, 16-21, 21-19, 16-14. The No. 1 pair of Schoene and Larkin also forced a third set in a tightly contested match that featured a 23-21 second-set win before ultimately falling in the decider.

Across both duals, HPU showed resilience in extended rallies and multiple three-set battles, gaining valuable early-season experience as the lineup continues to build chemistry.
