Samir “Sammy” Si is a center back from Oerlinghausen, Germany. A graduate of Hans-Ehrenberg-Schule, Samir competed in soccer, tennis, and handball before moving to the United States to continue his academic and athletic career. He previously played at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota, where he anchored the back line under head coach Derick Lyngholm and earned All-Conference and Academic All-District honors. Now at HPU, Samir chose to join the Sharks because of Coach Fisher and the unique opportunity to study and play soccer on O‘ahu. Off the field, he enjoys tennis and lifting, while his favorite foods are linguine with roasted tomatoes and pine nuts. His favorite movies include Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, and Ocean’s Eleven, and he listens to artists such as Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, and Pashanim. Inspired by athletes like Virgil Van Dijk and Dennis Rodman, Samir hopes to simply be happy in 10 years.
