Phoenix, AZ (2/13/11) - In the final game of the road trip, Hawai'i Pacific beat Cal State LA 8-1 in a matchup of top twenty-five women's tennis teams. HPU went 4-0 on the road trip, including three wins against ranked teams. HPU won 30 out of 36 matches on the trip, and returns home with an overall record of 5-0.
HPU swept doubles play, including 8-1 triumphs by the tandems of Zora Vlckova/Celina Goetti and Sandra Wilkstrom/Aleksandra Stankovic. With a 3-0 lead the Sea Warriors kept up the pressure for singles, highlighted by Ielyzaveta Rybakova's overpowering 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles.
The Sea Warriors return to Oahu and will play Chaminade at Central Oahu Regional Park on Saturday; start time is 9:00 A.M.
