Waipahu, HI (February 23, 2011)- The offense came alive in Hawai'i Pacific's 8-6 win over Northwest Nazarene in game two of the six game series. The consistent offense was not retired in order in the game, and scored in six different innings. Toby Inouye had a solid start to get the win; Inouye is now 2-0 on the season.
A two RBI hit from Les Akeo in the second inning put HPU on top after NNU scored in the first. HPU would play with the lead for the rest of the night, adding single runs in the next five innings. Blake Amaral and Jordan Oshiro each had two hits and an RBI. Amaral is off to a hot start, hitting .381 with five doubles, a home run and five RBI.
Inouye pitched seven innings giving up three runs, while striking out four. Peter Ibanez pitched two-thirds of an inning but got into a bases loaded jam before Nolan Hoppie got the final out of the eighth inning. Hoppie also pitched the ninth inning, recording his first save of the season.
HPU and NNU will play a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 4 P.M. at Hans L'Orange Park.
