Waipahu, HI (February 25, 2011) – Hawai'i Pacific again fell to Northwest Nazarene 10-6 in a regional matchup played at Hans L'Orange Park. The Sea Warriors went down 4-0 in the first inning, but would bounce back. HPU scored four runs of its own in the bottom of the first to retie the game. Keanu Kapana got the big hit, a bases-loaded double to drive in two runs.
NNU was able to score five runs in the sixth and eighth innings combined to pull away for the victory. HPU did add a run in the sixth on a Ray Salazar RBI hit, but it was not enough. HPU falls to 2-7 on the season, as NNU improves to 10-1.
The Sea Warriors managed 10 hits on the evening, but stranded 11 runners. HPU got multi-hit games from Les Akeo, Blake Amaral, Kapana, and Rylan Morihara. Troy Ajer had a RBI. Sergio Contreras got the loss for HPU allowing six earned runs in five and a third innings.
NNU and HPU will close the six game series tomorrow at Hans L'Orange Park, first pitch is set for 2 P.M.
