Baseball Streaking, Winners of Five Out of Six

Oakland, CA (March 22, 2011) – Hawai'i Pacific's bats were hot, totaling 19 runs in 14 innings during a doubleheader sweep of Academy of Art. Neither game was in doubt, HPU taking game one 10-1 and game two 9-0. HPU climbs to 13-14 on the season and 10-6 in the PacWest.

HPU jumped on AAU's Kallen Fletcher, chasing him from the game five batters into the second inning. In total, HPU would score 10 times in the inning. The Sea Warriors would only register six hits in the inning, but AAU's defense was awful committing four errors. HPU batted around in the inning, allowing Rylan Morihara to bat twice and both times he hit a two RBI single. Kale Sumner had two RBI, while Jordan Inamasu and Jordan Oshiro each had one.

Brent Queen went six innings, allowing one run to get the win; he is now 3-2. Jeremy Fujimoto entered in relief, pitching a scoreless inning. Morihara and Sumner each had two hits.

In game two, HPU spaced out its offensive onslaught, but the result was the same, a nine run win. HPU led 4-0 after scoring two in the first two innings. HPU took advantage of the Urban Knights wildness, scoring both runs in the second on bases loaded walks. The Sea Warriors tacked on four more runs in the fourth on RBI hits from Chad Bolibol, Sumner, and Wade Tamaru.

In a homecoming, Sergio Contreras got the win allowing one hit and no runs in six innings. Bobby Jackson cleaned up, throwing a perfect inning, striking out two. Max Newman had a game-high three hits, as Troy Ajer and Tamaru each collected two hits. Bolibol, Sumner, Tamaru, and Lanan Rice-Kashima each had two RBI.

HPU returns home to Hans L'Orange Field to host Dixie State in a key four game series, starting on April 6th at 4:00 PM.
