Pensacola, FL (April 7, 2012) – A day after knocking off the third best team in the nation, the Hawai'i Pacific men's tennis (14-3) team dropped Valdosta State 5-0. VSU, the fifth ranked team in the nation, was the eight consecutive win for HPU.
The 14
th ranked Sea Warriors were underdogs according to the rankings, but certainly didn't play like it. HPU won the first five matches, and with the outcome decided, the remaining four matches were stopped. At the time of the stoppage, HPU was only trailing in one of the final matches.
HPU seized control with a clean sweep in double play.

Patric Guenther breezed to an 8-2 win at first doubles and the team of Gerald Moretti/
Ji Hoon Heo also met little resistance at third doubles in an 8-3 win.

Georgi Yordanov needed an extra game, but prevailed 9-8.
Guenther was overpowering at third singles, he finished first with a 6-1, 6-0 win. The day's final point came from Heo at fifth singles who won 6-2, 6-2.
HPU will face another top five team tomorrow in second ranked West Florida. The match will begin at 9 AM in Pensacola, FL; it will be the final match of the regular season.
