Men’s Tennis Turned Back

Pensacola, FL (April 8, 2012) – The Hawai'i Pacific men's tennis team lost today's regular season finale against second ranked West Florida 8-1. HPU, ranked 14th in the nation and first in the region, is now 14-4 and will await word on their postseason future.

The lone bright spot of the day was Stephan Weling's comeback win at sixth singles. Weling lost the first set 4-6, but responded with a 7-5 win in the second set, then the Belgium native won the tiebreaker to close out the match.

Several other Sea Warriors had hard luck losses. Gerald Moretti and Patric Guenther both played against top 20 players and lost in the full three sets. Moretti and his partner Ji Hoon Heo were dealt a narrow 9-8 defeat in third doubles.
