SAN DIEGO, CA (March 29, 2013)-
Tyler Tokunaga had four hits and
Marvin Campbell hit a two-run home run, but the Hawai'i Pacific Baseball Team (18-14, 9-11) dropped a pair of games to Point Loma Nazarene(14-15, 11-9) at Carroll Bland Stadium. HPU lost game one by the score of 9-2 and fell in game two 9-4.
Tre Haliburton-Goeas got the call on the mound for the Sea Warriors in game one, pitching five strong innings before getting in to trouble in the sixth.
The Sea Warriors held a 2-1 lead after a
Derek Nakasato opened the third inning with a double followed by a Campbell two-run home run.
PLNU would shut down the HPU bats after the third and score four runs in the sixth as the Sea Warriors fell 9-2.
Like game one, the Sea Warriors held a lead, but lost it after a difficult inning.
Nakasato led off the third with his second double of the day and scored on a Tokunaga single.
Chad Bolibol reached on an error scoring Tokunaga and would score off a
Kale Sumner single one batter later. HPU added a run in the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead.
The lead would evaporate after PLNU managed six runs in the fifth off HPU relievers and the Sea Warriors fell in game two 9-4.
Tokunaga finished 4-7 at the plate with two RBI and one run scored. Sumner finished 3-6 with a walk and an RBI.
The two teams return to action tomorrow in another double header at Carroll Bland Stadium; first pitch of game one is scheduled at 12:00 PM PST.
