Box Score KANEOHE, HI (October 9, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Women's Soccer Team (6-3-1, 3-2) defeated Dixie State University (4-5-1, 2-2) in a thrilling soccer match by a 4-2 score on Thursday afternoon at Atherton Field.
The Sharks grabbed the early lead as
Breanna Gaddis sent a powerful header in the net after a free kick from
Ashlyn Ubongen in the seventh minute.
Both teams were fighting a fierce battle in the following course of the first period. The Sharks as well as the Red Storm tried to make the play but no one was able to claim control over the game.
In the 37th minute, a DSU player was fouled inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick for the Red Storm. Jennifer Mason didn't give the keeper any chance and tied the game at one.
The Sharks retaliated promptly as
Lexi Cameau sent a high lob from far outside the right wing straight over the goalie and into the goal, bringing the lead back to the Sharks (42').
After the changeover, the Sharks struck once more. This time it was Ubongen who cold-bloodedly converted a rebound off the keeper (53').
The Sharks continued with good forechecking and aggressive style play.
Meghan Cooley secured the lead with header past the keeper in the 61st minute. It was Cooley's first goal this season.

Christina Imada all had good shots that hardly could be saved by the often challenged DSU keeper, who finished the game with nine saves.
In the 81st minute, the Red Storm managed, despite the Sharks' dominance, to make it 4-2 with a shot over the goalie from 18 yards out.
In the final phase of the game, the Sharks managed to stay calm and to carried home the 4-2 win.
"We had a good win today. We came into the game with a specific game plan and the team executed it very well," said Head Coach
Gina Brewer after the game about her team's performance.
The Sharks also led the statistics in shots (22-9) and shots on goal (14-5) significantly. Cooley led with five shots, Cameau and Martinez had three shots each.
The Sharks will play their next game on Saturday, October 11th, against California Baptist University at 3:00 p.m. at Atherton Field.
