Box Score 2 OAKLAND, CA (March 29, 2014) – The Hawai'i Pacific Baseball Team (17-13, 11-11) dropped both ends of today's doubleheader against Holy Names (16-16, 6-12). The home team won game one 5-2 and game two 6-5.
In game one, the Sea Warriors again mounted a late game comeback, but it was not enough. HPU trailed 5-0 heading into the ninth inning after the home team scored two runs in the second inning and three more in the third.
Chad Bolibol opened the ninth with a double and moved to third on a single by Anu Kapana.
Jordan Oshiro then put HPU on the board with a single through the right side. After a fielder's choice and a walk loaded the bases,
Tyler Tokunaga forced in the second run with a walk. However, a double play ended the threat and the game.
Derek Nakasato was excellent for HPU, going 3-4 in game one.
John Albert was superb in relief, giving his team a chance to comeback with five scoreless innings on the mound.
In the second game, HPU jumped out in front early with a score in the first inning with help from a wild pitch. The Hawks responded to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Undeterred, HPU reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth when a sacrifice fly from Tokunaga scored
Ryan Torres-Torioka who had doubled earlier in the inning. Â Â Â Â

HPU then added three more runs in the sixth inning to grab a 5-1 lead. With the bases loaded, the Sea Warriors scored the first run on Oshiro's RBI groundout. Torres-Torioka and Tokunaga later followed with back-to-back RBI singles.
However, Holy Names answered the Sea Warrior onslaught with three runs of its own in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one run game. Then, in the bottom of the ninth, the Hawks tied and then won the game with two runs.
Torres-Torioka had a great game two, going 3-4 with a run and a RBI.
Jeremy Fujimoto continued his strong season out of the pen with three more scoreless innings.
The two teams will play another doubleheader tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. PST.
