Biography

Personal: Born in Honolulu, HI to Daena and Glenn...has one brother (Tanner) and one sister (Daelenn)...favorite movies are Pitch Perfect and Money Ball...favorite athletes are Troy Tulowitzki and Pete Rose...enjoys eating steak and pizza and his favorite activities are going to the beach and playing ping pong...came to HPU for the opportunity to play baseball and get an education at home.

Prior To HPU: Graduate of Pearl City High School where he played for Head Coach Mitch Yamato...named 2012 OIA Red West Player of the Year

HPU: 2016: Started and played in all 50 of the Shark's games...led the team with a .343 (60-175) batting average...scored 36 runs and drove in 27 rbi...led the team with 11 doubles and five triples...led the team with 31 walks...stole six bases...was selected as team MVP.  2015: Started in all 47 games played...hit for a .320 average (56-175)...scored 36 runs scored and drove in 23 rbi...hit six doubles and two triples...led the team in walks with 25 and was second in stolen bases with 14...was selected to the District 8 Capitol One Academic All-District team. 2014: Tokunaga was one of the few Sharks that both played and started in all 48 games. He posted a .348 batting average on 65 hits which were both the second highest on the team and led the team in runs scored with 40. He led the team in walks with 29 and on-base percentage at .444, all while driving in 25 RBI’s with four doubles and one triple. Tokunaga was also selected to the Second Team All – PacWest. Named to the All-PacWest Preseason Team and NCBWA Preseason All-Region Second Team 2013: Played in 40 games, starting 32…hit .376 with four doubles and two triples in 117 at bats while scoring 37 runs and recording 21 RBI...Tokunaga was second on the team with a .486 On Base %…had the 4th highest batting average in the PacWest Conference
