Box Score 2 RIVERSIDE, CA (March 23, 2015) – The Hawai'i Pacific Baseball Team (12-9, 9-7) dropped a pair of games in day two's doubleheader that finished the season series with the California Baptist (14-12, 6-2). HPU was just edged 2-1 in game two after going down 12-3 in the opener.
In game one, the Lancers ran out to a devastating eight run lead, all in the first inning alone, knocking HPU's starter out of the game.
HPU scored two runs in the third inning on a
Chad Bolibol RBI single and
Codey Ellenwood's sacrifice fly.
By the eighth inning, the Lancers stretched the lead out to 12-2.
In the ninth, the Sharks scratched for one more run after
Tyler Tokunaga reached on a fielder's choice, scoring
Reid Akau.
The Sharks did see a positive in
Ethan Kalin who threw seven innings of effective relief for HPU.
The second game was a pitcher's duel between the four starters.
Harley Holt (3-2) was the unlucky loser after throwing six innings and allowing just two runs on four hits.
The Sharks couldn't come up with that key hit all game, scoring just one run while recording 11 hits in the short seven inning game.
HPU struck first, scoring its lone run in the second inning. The Lancers retaliated quickly in the bottom of the inning with a two-run homerun to give them the lead and eventually the sweep.
HPU moves onto West Region contender Azusa Pacific on Friday (March 27th).
