HONOLULU (February 19, 2016) – Hawaii Pacific senior
Shawna Uehara was named National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association Player of the Week for her performances over two road meets last week.
Uehara, a product of Kamehameha Schools via Waikele, Hawaii,
competed in both away meets for the Sharks during the first week of full competition, a win at Azusa Pacific and a loss at Oregon. Competing in 10 heats per meet, Uehara put up scores of 9.6 and 9.8 in the Acro 5 heat, adding a 9.9 and 9.8 in the Acro 7 heat.
In addition, the senior was the main middle base in the pyramid that scored the first perfect 10.00 of the season for HPU. In total, Uehara competed in three of four compulsory heats, two of three acro heats and all three pyramid heats, also appearing in the trio tumbling pass and team event.
The Sharks (1-1) return to action for a home match with Alderson Broaddus University on March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Radford High School.
