SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 1, 2016) – The ninth-ranked Hawaii Pacific women's tennis team swept No. 33 Point Loma Nazarene University 9-0 to remain perfect on the season.
The Sharks (5-0) were led in the No. 1 singles slot by
Kristyna Hancarova, the 15
th-ranked singles player in the nation, who defeated Nikki Newell 6-1, 6-0. In the No. 2 singles position, HPU's 41
st-ranked
Nicole Hoynaski downed Regina Von Koch 6-0, 6-1.
Syna Kayser,
Oceane Adam,
Lorena Gheorghe and
Julia Sauer also posted dominant singles victories for HPU.
In the top doubles slot, the fourth-ranked team of Hancarova and Hoynaski combined to down the tandem of Newell and Von Koch, 8-4. Gheorghe and Kayser coupled to defeat PLNU's Nicole Camaratta and Hillary Ramage, 8-2. To round out the competition, Sauer and Adam battled Kirsty Mountain and Michelle Torres in an eventual 9-7 victory.
The Sharks women return to the court on Wednesday, March 2 at 3 p.m. to face Azusa Pacific University.
