AZUSA, Calif. (March 17, 2016) – The Hawaii Pacific Acrobatics & Tumbling team came up 16 hundredths of a point shy of sweeping a tri-meet with Azusa Pacific University and Fairmont State (W. Va.) University Thursday night.
The Sharks (3-3) bested the Fighting Falcons (3-5) of Fairmont by a 271.300-261.180 margin, but the Cougars (5-2) of APU eked out the victory with a mark of 271.460.
HPU established a 96.50-96.10-94.20 lead over APU and FSU after the first three events, but the Cougars scored a 96.06 in the team event to overtake the Sharks, who scored 94.45, in the evening's final competition.
HPU won the Compulsory (38.30), Pyramid (29.70) and Tumbling (53.200) events, while finishing second in the Acro (28.50) and Team events, and coming in third in the Toss (27.15).
