No. 4 Sharks rip No. 10 Concordia (Wisc.)

MEQUON, Wisc. — No. 4 Hawai'i Pacific University won all six events in easily defeating No. 10 Concordia University of Wisconsin 271.255 – 230.960 on Thursday night at R. John Buuck Fieldhouse.
 
The Sharks (5-1) established their control of the meet early in handing the Falcons (3-1) their first defeat of the season.
 
HPU came out strong in the lead off event, the compulsories, racking up 38.05 points to the Falcons 33.35, thanks to 9.90s in the Pyramid and Toss compulsories.
 
The Sharks extended their lead with a strong Acro event, picking up another four full points, scoring 27.95 points to the Falcons 23.90.
 
HPU scored well in the third event, the Pyramid, totaling a 29.35 that included a 9.95. CUW notched a 27.60 for the event. HPU led at the half by more than 10 full points, 95.35 to 84.85.
 
The Sharks posted a strong fourth event, the Toss, scoring a 28.40 that was greater than the CUW's start value in the event. The Falcons collected a 24.25.
 
HPU won the Tumbling event 54.025 to 43.900 to hold a commanding lead headed into the final team event.
 
HPU posted a 93.48 in the team event, while the Falcons chalked up a 77.96.
 
The Sharks wrapped up the event winning by over 40 points with an aggregate score of 271.255 to 230.960.
 
HPU is not scheduled to compete again until April 14th, when the Sharks host Gannon (Pa.) at Moanalua High School Gym.
