HONOLULU -- No. 4 Hawai'i Pacific University closed the regular season with a 284.745-to-274.240 win over Gannon at the Moanalua High School Gym on Friday night.

The Sharks (6-1) never trailed the Golden Knights (3-4) and now await their seeding for the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling National Championships in Azusa, Calif., Apr. 27 to 29.

The Sharks started their night by taking the compulsories 39.30 to 38.65, then won the Acro event with three 9.95 performances to post a 29.85 to 29.30 advantage.

The Sharks and Golden Knights remained close in the third event, the Pyramid, with HPU edging the Golden Knights 29.75 to 29.40 in the event and went to halftime with a 1.55 advantage, 98.90 to 97.35.

The fourth event, the Toss, was tight with the Sharks edging out Gannon 28.85 to 28.80. But in the fifth event, Tumbling, HPU more than doubled its lead as it dominated the event 55.425 to 53.80.

The last routine, the Team Event, saw Gannon slip to a 94.29, while the Sharks rolled to a 101.57 to finish with a 10.505 point win, 284.745-to-274.240.

The meet was the final NACTA meet of the regular season.
