Sharks Lambrigtsen Player of the Week, Baum Defender of the Week in PacWest

IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University has doubled up on PacWest Conference Women's Basketball Awards this week as guard Samantha Lambrigtsen was selected the Player of the Week and guard Amy Baum the Defender of the Week.
 
Lambrigtsen, a 5-6 senior from Oregon, Ill./Oregon HS, is the Player of the Week after leading the defending PacWest Conference Champions to three straight victories during the week and kept the defending champs unbeaten in conference play. Lambrigtsen averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and did not suffer a turnover for the week. She shot .484 from the floor (15-of-31), .333 from the 3-point arc (2-of-6) and hit .846 from the foul line (22-of-26). 
 
She scored 14 points with five rebounds and two steals in the 71-44 win at Chaminade, led HPU with 17 points, going 5-of-10 from the floor, with three assists and a steal in a 68-48 win over Holy Names, and completed the week by matching her career-high with 23 points to go with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in an 86-67 win against Saint Martin's in the Oahu Christmas Classic. Lambrigtsen leads HPU and is eighth in the PacWest in scoring with 15.2 points per game, and leads the team and is 13th in rebounding with 7.1 boards a contest.
 
Baum, a 5-7 freshman from Melbourne, Australia/Rowville Secondary, picks up her first Defensive Player of the Week award in leading HPU in the three wins. Baum averaged 9.0 points, led the team with 7.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 3.3 steals and 1.7 blocks in the three games. She shot .417 (10-of-24) from the floor, hit 5-of-14 (.357) from the 3-point arc and connected on 2-of-3 (.667) from the foul line. Against Chaminade she grabbed 11 boards with eight points, six assists, three blocks and a steal against Chaminade. Then nearly quadruple doubled in action against Holy Names with eight points, seven rebounds, seven assists and eight steals along with a blocked shot. In the Saint Martin's contest, she scored 11 points with five rebounds, five assists, a block and a steal. Baum averages 7.8 points per game with 6.7 rebounds a contest, leads the PacWest with 5.2 assists per outing and is eighth in the conference in both steals with 2.0 a game and blocked shots with 1.0 per game.  
 
For the week the Sharks defense held opponents to shooting .341 (58-of-170) from the floor and .302 (19-of-63) from the arc. HPU outrebounded its opponents 41.3 to 36.0, force 18.67 turnovers, recorded 11.33 steals and blocked 3.3 shots per game. 
 
Joining the HPU duo in the weekly awards is Holy Names Jaliah Williams as Freshman of the Week.
 
The Sharks (6-4, 4-0) are have completed first semester action and will return to the court on Monday, Dec. 31 when they start a three-game northern California road swing starting in San Francisco at Academy of Art. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. HST (1 p.m. PST) at Kezar Pavilion.
