Sharks Notch A Double Win With Tri-Meet Triumph

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Hawai'i Pacific University won all six elements as they easily defeated host West Liberty and Davis & Elkins on Friday night in an Acrobatic & Tumbling tri-meet at the Academic Sports and Recreation Complex.
 
The Sharks (2-4) found their first two wins of the season, scoring 263.250 points, with West Liberty (1-3) scoring 223.915 and Davis and Elkins (0-4) 131.075.
 
HPU opened the meet scoring 37.40 in the Compulsory Event posting a high score of 9.90 in the Toss heat, while the Hilltoppers posted 26.65 and the Senators 23.90.
 
HPU continued to dominate in the Acro event with 29.05 points, WL at 23.60, and D&E 25.75.
 
The Sharks closed the first half of the meet with yet another a win in the Pyramid event and recorded the first perfect 10.00 on the season in the Inversion heat scoring 29.60 in total. West Liberty tallied 26.40 and Davis & Elkins 26.45.  HPU led at the half 96.05 to WL's 76.95 and D&E's 73.05.
 
After half-time, WL and D&E came the closest in event scores to HPU that they experienced the entire meet with HPU posting a score of 25.15 followed by WL at 24.20 and D&E with 23.45
 
In the Tumbling event, HPU toppled the competition boasting a 51.350 including a 9.50 out of 10.00 in the Aerial Pass and a 9.425 in the 6-Element Pass. WL came in at 43.675 and D&E at 34.575
 
The final team event featured a faceoff between HPU and West Liberty clean-sweeping them 90.70 to 79.09 to finalize the double win for the Sharks.
 
HPU comes back to Honolulu to take on No. 2 Oregon in the season's final home event on Monday, March 26 at the Moanalua High School Gym. The senior night match begins at 7 p.m.
