HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University midfielder
Gerrit Arzberger has been voted to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District® 8 Division II Men's Soccer Team.
The Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Arzberger, a 6-0 junior midfielder from Munich, Germany/Therese von Bayern, carries a 3.83 grade point average in Business Administration. He leads the Sharks with seven goals, six assists and 20 points this season while starting all 14 games. He was named the PacWest Conference Player of the Week on Sept. 30 after leading HPU to a pair of road victories.
Arzberger advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot, with Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in early December. The Division II CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II Academic All-America® programs.
The Sharks close the season at home next week with a pair of contests. HPU takes on Academy of Art on Monday night, Nov. 11, then closes the season against Holy Names on Saturday, Nov. 16. Both contests are scheduled for 7 p.m. as the second game of a doubleheader with the HPU women at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
