Sharks Noblett Named PacWest Player of Week

IRVINE, Calif. –Hawai'i Pacific University's Abbey Noblett has been selected the PacWest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week announced Monday by the conference office.
 
Noblett, a 5-10 sophomore guard from Morwell, Australia/Lavalla Catholic, led the No. 23 Sharks to a 73-64 win over No. 14 UC San Diego on Saturday and a buzzer-beating loss to No. 19 Sioux Falls 79-77 in the 2019 Malika Sport Tours Oahu Thanksgiving Classic.
 
Noblett averaged 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists with a block and a steal in the two games. She shot 44.4 percent from the floor (12-of-27), 40.0 percent from the 3-point arc (2-of-5) and 81.0 percent from the foul line (17-of-21). She double-doubled with 19 points and 11 rebounds with the block and steal against Sioux Falls on Wednesday, then scored 24 points with eight rebounds to lead HPU to the win over UCSD.
 
Noblett ranks 10th in the PacWest with 14.8 points per game, ninth with 7.0 rebounds per game, ninth with a .462 field goal percentage, fifth in free throw percentage at .862 and 11th with 33.0 minutes played.
 
Joining Noblett with the women's weekly honors are Azusa Pacific's Laura Pranger as PacWest Defender of the Week and Biola's Stephanie Lee as PacWest Freshman of the Week.
 
The Sharks open PacWest Conference action on Friday when they host No. 4 Azusa Pacific at The Shark Tank. Tipoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
