HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University is ranked in both major Division II women's basketball polls this week.
The 5-1 Sharks are ranked 24th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II Poll, up from receiving votes last week. HPU is ranked 25th in the Division II Sports Information Directors' weekly poll, down from 23rd. It's the first time this season that the Sharks are ranked in both polls.
The polls have the same top two teams, but differ in their positions. Defending national champion Lubbock Christian (7-0) is the top team in the D2SIDA poll, while Drury (Mo.) (6-0) is number one by three points in the WBCA poll.
Fellow PacWest Conference member Azusa Pacific (6-0) is fourth in both polls.
The Sharks are off until Friday for fall final examinations, then face their third consecutive Top 25 opponent when No. 4 Azusa Pacific visits The Shark Tank. Tipoff on Friday afternoon is at 4:30 p.m.
