HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University was selected the number seven seed for the 2019 National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association National Championships April 25-27 at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.
The Sharks have qualified for the national tournament in each of the six years that the program has existed. The Sharks reached the championships based on their strong scores and a rugged strength of schedule.
The No. 7 Sharks (1-5) face off familiar foe and second seeded Oregon (5-2) in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 25 at 9 a.m. HST (2 p.m. CDT).
The Sharks and Ducks follow third seed Azusa Pacific (4-2) and sixth seeded Converse (5-1) who open the quarterfinals at 7 a.m. HST (Noon CDT). No. 4 Quinnipiac (4-2) meets No. 5 Fairmont State (8-1) in the third quarterfinal at 12:30 p.m. HST (5:30 p.m. CDT) before host and top seeded Baylor (9-0) takes on eighth seeded Gannon (Pa.) (4-1) in the final in the last quarterfinal at 2:30 p.m. HST (7:30 p.m. CDT).
The semifinals are Friday, April 26, with the HPU/Oregon winner facing the APU/Converse winner at Noon HST (5 p.m. CDT), and the BU/Gannon and Quinnipiac/Fairmont winners meeting at 2 p.m. HST (7 p.m. EDT).
The championship match is Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. HST (6 p.m. CDT).
The Individual Event National Championships are slated at 6 a.m. HST (11 a.m. CDT) on Saturday. Programs competing in the National Championship Tournament will qualify for the event finals based on scores during Thursday's quarterfinal meets.
