IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University midfielder
Gerrit Arzberger was named the PacWest Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his outstanding play last week.
A senior from Munich, Germany/Therese von Bayern, Arzberger collected three goals and four assists as the Sharks blasted Chaminade 4-0 and Hawai'i Hilo 6-1.
On Thursday against Chaminade, Arzberger scored one goal and assisted on two others. Then on Saturday at UH Hilo, Arzberger scored twice and assisted on two other goals in the non-conference meeting.
Arzberger leads the conference in goals and points per game.
Joining Arzberger with weekly honors are Notre Dame de Namur defender Moises Claudio as PacWest Defender of the Week and NDNU teammate Miwoned Siraj as PacWest Freshman of the Week.
The Sharks open PacWest Conference play on Friday against Notre Dame de Namur. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium. Sunday the Sharks host UH Hilo in conference play at 2:30 p.m. in a match moved to Waipio Field 5 for stadium field maintenance. Both matches follow the HPU women's contests.
