Sharks Climb In Both WBCA and D2SIDA Polls

HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University climbed one positions this week in the two major Division II women's basketball poll released Tuesday.

The 19-1 Sharks moved up to seventh in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II Poll, and inched up to sixth in the Division II Sports Information Directors' poll. On a 15-game winning streak, the Sharks are ranked in both polls for the seventh consecutive time this season. HPU moved up following a loss by Alaska Anchorage this week that dropped UAA from in front of the Sharks.

This week's poll does not reflect Monday night action.

The top two teams remain the same in both polls this week. Drury (Mo.) (19-0) is the No. 1 team in both polls. Drury is unanimous in the D2SIDA vote, and received 20 of the 23 first place votes in the WBCA. Ashland (Ohio) (19-0) is second in both as well, picking up the other three first place votes in the WBCA. Texas A&M-Commerce (19-0) is third in the D2SIDA poll and fourth in the WBCA poll. The WBCA coaches have Grand Valley State (Mich.) (18-1) third and fifth in the D2SIDA poll. Alaska Anchorage is fourth in the D2SIDA, and fifth in the WBCA. Lee (Tenn.) (19-1) is fourth in the D2SIDA poll. The WBCA poll has Indiana (Pa.) (18-1) fifth.

The rest of the top 10 in the WBCA has Lee sixth, HPU seventh, Lubbock Christian (16-2) eighth, Alaska Anchorage (19-2) ninth, and Virginia Union (16-2) 10th.
