Baum Selected PacWest Women's Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University's Amy Baum is the PacWest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week chosen by the conference office for her strong play last week.
 
Baum, a 5-7 senior from Melbourne, Australia/Rowville Secondary, recorded her third career triple-double on Wednesday against Black Hills State, leading the Sharks to their third win of the season. The preseason PacWest Player of the Year lived up to her title with 11 points, 10 assists and 12 rebounds for HPU. Two days later, she had eight points, nine rebounds and five assists to finish the week with an average of 9.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game.
 
Baum also had two steals in each game to reach a total of 140 career steals. Baum also moved up on the PacWest list of career assist leaders, taking second place with 485 assists. Baum made 5 of 10 shots in the win against Block Hills State and made 4 of 7 from 2-point range against Lubbock Christian. For the season, Baum is averaging 12.6 points a game, is averaging 8.8 rebounds a contest and has 6.2 assists per game.
 
Joining Baum with weekly honors is Academy of Art's Alisha Wilson as the PacWest Defensive Player of the Week.
 
The Sharks open PacWest Conference play tonight (Monday) when they host Concordia Irvine. They also face Point Loma on Thursday night. Both are slated for a 4:30 p.m. tipoff.
