Sharks Still Second in D2SIDA Poll, Now Seventh in WBCA Poll

HONOLULU – Hawai'i Pacific University women's basketball team moved up and down in the latest Division II women's basketball poll released on Tuesday.
 
The 8-0 Sharks remained in their highest ranking in history as they are second in the weekly Division II Sports Information Directors' poll.
 
In the Women's Basketball Coaches Association weekly poll, HPU moved back up a spot to seventh as the Sharks rolled their winning streak to 33 games.
 
Lubbock Christian (Texas) (11-0) remained the top ranked team in both polls this week, grabbing 15 of the 16 first place votes in the D2SIDA poll and 21 of the 22 top votes in the WBCA poll.
 
The Sharks held number two in the D2SIDA poll as the top six spots remained the same. Lander (S.C.) (12-0) is third and Drury (13-1) is fourth with a first-place vote. Charleston (W.Va.) (12-0) is fifth, and Minnesota-Duluth (9-0) is sixth. Grand Valley State (12-1) moved up to seventh, followed by West Texas A&M (14-1) eighth, Valdosta State (Ga.) (16-2) ninth and Glenville State (W.Va.) (8-1) 10th.
 
In the WBCA poll Lander is second with a first-place vote, followed by Charleston (W.Va.) third, Drury fourth and West Texas A&M fifth. Minnesota-Duluth is sixth, HPU seventh, Fort Hays State (Kan.) (16-2) is eighth, Grand Valley State ninth and Valdosta State (Ga.) (16-2) is 10th.
 
Only one PacWest Conference team, Azusa Pacific, is receiving votes in the D2SIDA poll. No other PacWest school is mentioned in the WBCA poll.
 
The Sharks have one contest this week as they host cross-town rival Chaminade for the fourth game in eight days on Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at The Shark Tank.
