Sharks Viney Named On All-PacWest Men's Team

IRVINE, Calif. – Sophomore Lachlan Viney was the only selection for Hawai'i Pacific University on the 2021 All-PacWest Conference Men's Basketball Team announced Wednesday by the conference office.
 
With the conference season played by pods in 2020-21, each pod (Hawai'i, Southern California and Northern California) with the special awards selected by the entire conference.
 
Viney was named to the All-PacWest Hawai'i Team by the conference coaches as he led the Sharks to a 3-9 season in 2020-21.
 
The 6-2 sophomore guard from Melbourne, Australia/Mazenod averaged 12.6 points and 2.3 rebounds for the Sharks, with 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He scored a season-best 23 points against Hawai'i Hilo and 19 points against Chaminade. He shot .456 from the floor for the season.
 
Viney is joined on the All-PacWest Hawai'i Team by the UH Hilo quartet of Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones, Sasa Vuksanovic, Jordan Graves and Darren Williams, and by Chaminade's Kevin Kremer and Isaac Amaral-Artharee.
 
The All-PacWest Conference Special Awards were voted upon by the entire conference's coaches. Point Loma's Kaden Anderson was selected PacWest Player of the Year, with UH Hilo's Jordan Graves the PacWest Defender of the Year and Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones the PacWest Newcomer of the Year. Dr. Dave Holmquist of Biola was honored as the PacWest Coach of the Year.
 
The Sharks ended their season last week.
