IRVINE, Calif. –Hawai'i Pacific University's
Diego Saavedra was selected the PacWest Hawai'i Pod Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his play on Sunday.
A sophomore from Kailua, Hawai'i/Vista Murieta (Ariz.), Saavedra helped the Sharks come from behind to defeat Chaminade on Sunday. He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory after the HPU trailed 1-0 at halftime. Saavedra's first goal of the season came in the 85th minute to preserve the Sharks' undefeated record.
Saavedra is joined this week by the PacWest Northern California Player of the Week Ivan Galvan of Dominican.
The Sharks (3-0, 3-0) conclude the short season on Sunday, March 14, when host Hawai'i Hilo. Kickoff at St. Louis Field is set for 11 a.m.
