PLEASANTON, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University posted a 351 to open the 2022 golf spring season at the Women's Bay Area Invitational at the Callippe Preserve Golf Course.
The Sharks are fifth, four strokes ahead of Montana State Billings in sixth. HPU is 19 strokes behind UC Santa Cruz in fourth at 332.
Freshmen
Kellie Yamane of Aiea, Hawai'i/Iolani and
Lily Landt of Reno, Nev./Wooster lead the way for HPU, both shot an 86 on the par 73, 5,917 yard tournament course at Callippe Preserve. Freshman
Clarissa Burhan of Las Vegas, Nev./Clark added an 88, while sophomore
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora posted a 91 and freshman
Makenna Reinhardt of Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson carded a 94. Playing as an individual, HPU freshman
Kaila Bonawitz of Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View posted a 104 in the opening round.
Host Cal State East Bay has the team lead after the first of two rounds at 4-over-par 296, 21 strokes ahead of second place Holy Names at 317 and 30 swings better than Chico State at 326 in third.
The Pioneers also hold the top four spots individually, with Jazmin Krishna firing a 1-under 72 for the lead, with Caroline Berge a stroke back at even-par 73. Sachika Singh is third at 2-over 75 and Drishti Karumbaya fourth at 3-over 76.
The second round of the tournament is scheduled to start at 6 a.m. HST (8 a.m. PST) at Callippe Preserve.
