PLEASANTON, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University finished 12th to open the season at the Bay Area Invitational at The Club at Ruby Hill.
The Sharks put up a final round 317 to finish with a three-round total of 939 in 12th, 15 strokes ahead of Chaminade in 13th with a 954.

Ryan Torres of San Jose, Calif./Evergreen Valley fired a final round 1-over-par 73 on the par 72, 6,980-yard Ruby Hill layout to finish as the team's leader at 10-over 226 in 31st. Sophomore
Keita Okada, from Tokyo, Japan/Bradenton, Fla. IMG Academy, shot an 83 on Tuesday to finish at 235, with junior Keli'i Kamelamela-Dudoit of Ho'olehua, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama carding a 5-over 78 to finish at 239. Junior
Hasee Nazir of Orange, Calif./Orange Lutheran posted an 83 for a 240 final, and senior
Ray Kim of Aiea, Hawai'i/Moanalua added an 85 to finish at 254. Freshman
Noah Daher of Cottonwood, Ariz./Mingus Union, playing as an individual, recorded an 83 for a 249.
Cal State San Marcos won the event with an even-par 864 after a 5-over final round of 293. Sonoma State vaulted to second at 883, while Western Washington and host Cal State-East Bay tied for third at 886 as CSUEB joined Sonoma with the best team rounds of the day at 292.
Despite a final round 2-over 74, CSU San Marcos' Matt Pennington won the individual honors with an 8-under 208. Teammate Matthew Moss fired a 2-under 70 to finish second at 3-under 213. Sonoma State's Griffin Pace added a 2-under 70 to join Chico State's Mike Stephens in third at 1-under 215.
HPU is in action again on March 7-8 in the Nighthawk Invitational at the Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore, Calif.
