SAN DIEGO – Hawai'i Pacific University posted a first round 334 to open play in the 2022 Biola Eagle Invitaional at the Grand Golf Club.
The Sharks are in sixth after the opening round just one stroke behind Westminster (Utah) at 333 and one in front of Vanguard at 335.
Freshman
Lily Landt of Reno, Nev./Wooster leads the Sharks, touring the par 72, 5,957-yard Grand Golf Club tournament layout with an 9-over-par 81 to tie for 19th. Freshman
Clarissa Burhan of Las Vegas, Nev./Clark is just one stroke behind Landt with a first round 82 while Kellie Yamane of Aiea, Hawai'i/I'olani shot an 85 in the opening round. Freshman
Makenna Reinhardt of Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson followed right behind with an 86 and sophomore
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora carded a 93. Playing as an individual, HPU freshman
Kaila Bonawitz of Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View turned in a 96 in first round play.
The tournament is led by Cal State San Marcos. The 13th ranked Cougars put up an opening round 297, well ahead of Point Loma at 307 and host Biola at 313.
Individually, Point Loma's Raquel Prado fired a 4-under 68, holding a five-stroke on CSUSM's Diana Delgado in second at 1-over 73. CSUSM's Breann Horn and Colorado Mesa's Elly Waters are tied for third at 2-over 74.
The final round of the tournament is set for Friday, featuring a shotgun start at 6 a.m. HST (8 a.m. PST) at The Grand Golf Club.
