Sharks Finish Sixth at Biola Invitational

SAN DIEGO – Hawai'i Pacific University posted a second consecutive 334 for a 668 to finish sixth at the 2022 Biola Eagle Invitational at the Grand Golf Club.
 
The Sharks finished 11 strokes better than seventh place Vanguard (Calif.) at 679 in seventh, and 10 behind fifth place Westminster (Utah) at 658.
 
Freshman Lily Landt of Reno, Nev./Wooster recorded her third top 20 finish of the season, shooting a 6-over-par 78 on the par 72, 5,957-yard Grand Golf Club tournament course, to finish tied for 13th at 15-over 159. Freshman Clarissa Burhan of Las Vegas, Nev./Clark added an 84 in the final round to finish at 166, one stroke ahead of Kellie Yamane of Aiea, Hawai'i/I'olani who carded a 10-over 82 in the final round to finish at 167. Freshman Makenna Reinhardt of Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson added a 80 to total 176, while sophomore Kirsten Linder of Glendora, Calif./Glendora turned in a 99 to finish at 192. Freshman Kaila Bonawitz of Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View added a second 96 to also finish at 192.
 
Cal State San Marcos led the tournament wire-to-wire, finishing with at 601 for the win. Point Loma posted a 303 in the final round to finish second, nine back at 610, with host Biola was third at 624.
 
Individually, PLNU's Raquel Prado shot a 3-over 75 in the final round to win the event at 1-under 143. CSUSM's Brian Horn and Colorado Mesa's Elly Walters tied for second at 3-over 147.
 
The Sharks are idle until April 4-5, when they go to Santa Rosa, Calif., to play in the Sonoma State Spring Invitational at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club.
