VISTA, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University posted a first round 341 to open play in the 2022 Cal State San Marcos Fujikura Invitational at the Shadowridge Golf Club on Monday.
The Sharks are in 18th after the first round, three strokes ahead of Hawai'i Hilo at 344 and eight strokes behind Colorado State-Pueblo at 333.
Freshman
Lily Landt of Reno, Nev./Wooster led the Sharks, touring the par 72, 6,110-yard Shadowridge tournament layout with an 8-over-par 80. Freshman
Kellie Yamane of Aiea, Hawai'i/I'olani shot an 84 in the opening round, with freshman
Clarissa Burhan of Las Vegas, Nev./Clark adding a 86. Sophomore
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora and freshman
Makenna Reinhardt of Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson both carded a 91 to round out the Sharks scoring. Playing as an individual, HPU freshman
Kaila Bonawitz of Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View turned in a 95 in first round play.
The tournament is led by host Cal State San Marcos. The 13th ranked Cougars put up an opening round 300, three strokes better than fifth ranked Barry (Fla.) at 303, and four strokes ahead of top ranked Lynn (Fla.) at 304.
Individually, CSUSM's Diana Delgado fired a 2-under 70 to lead the way, a stroke ahead of Texas A&M International's Sahara Washington at 2-under 71 and two in front of Barry's Alice Gotbring at even-par 72.
The final round of the tournament is set for Tuesday, with a 6 a.m. HST (8 a.m. PST) shotgun start at Shadowridge.
