VISTA, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University put up a final round 337 on Tuesday at the 2022 Cal State San Marcos Fujikura Invitational at the Shadowridge Golf Club.
The Sharks stayed 18th overall at 678, one strokes ahead of Hawai'i Hilo at 679 in 19th and 10 strokes behind Westminster (Utah) at 668.
Freshman
Lily Landt of Reno, Nev./Wooster once again led the Sharks, circling the par 72, 6,110-yard Shadowridge tournament course with an 7-over-par 79 to finish at 15-over 159. Freshman
Clarissa Burhan of Las Vegas, Nev./Clark shot a 9-over 81 in the second round to finish at 167, with freshman
Kellie Yamane of Aiea, Hawai'i/I'olani carding an 89 to slip to a 173. Sophomore
Kirsten Lindner of Glendora, Calif./Glendora improved with an 88 for a 179, and freshman
Makenna Reinhardt of Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson turned in a consecutive 91 to finish at 182. Freshman
Kaila Bonawitz of Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View, playing as an individual, shot a final round 85 to finish at 180.
Tournament host Cal State San Marcos, ranked 13th nationally by Golfstat, held off a charge by top-ranked Lynn (Fla.) to win the tournament. The Cougars posted a 294 to finish at 594, three strokes better than Lynn who had the top round at 293 and finished at 597. Biola, ranked 28th, was third at 605, bettering fifth ranked Barry (Fla.) at 613.
Individually, San Marcos' Diana Delgado held on for the wire-to-wire win, firing a 1-over 73 to win at 1-under 143. Barry's Alice Gotbring was second at 1-over 145. There was a four-way tie at third at 4-over 148, led by Lynn's Maria Hoyos with the best round of the tourney at 2-under 70.
The Sharks stay in southern California, moving slightly down the coast to play in the Biola Eagle Invitational on Thursday and Friday at The Grand Del Mar.
