TEMPE, Ariz. – The Hawai'i Pacific University women's tennis team dipped one spot to fourth in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Women's Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point.
The Sharks (11-5) had a 10-1 Division II record at the start of the week and have a computer ranking of 50.323 for the fourth position behind now third ranked Central Oklahoma (7-1) at 56.066. HPU is ahead of fifth ranked Cameron (Okla.) (10-0) at 48.95.
The Sharks also have three singles players ranked nationally and one doubles pair.
Shaline Pipa moved down to ninth, with
Marleen Tilgner moving up to 14th and
Elodie Busson moving down to 51st. The duo of Pipa and Tilgner slid to 34th in the doubles rankings.
Defending national champion Barry (Fla.) (11-0) regained the top spot with an 88.05 rating, with Nova Southeastern (Fla.) (10-2) second with 68.00 points. Columbus State (Ga.) (11-4) is sixth at 48.078, Indianapolis (6-2) is seventh at 46.29, Saint Leo (Fla.) (10-1) is eighth at 45.754, Lynn (Fla.) (8-2) is ninth at 44.306 and Queens (N.C.) (7-0) is 10th at 41.883.
In addition to HPU, the PacWest is represented by Biola at 14th, and Azusa Pacific at 22nd.
The No. 4 Sharks visit the Big Island on Sunday to face Hawai'i Hilo. First serve is set for Noon at the UHH Tennis Courts.
