Sharks Finish Seventh, Landt Sixth at PacWest Championships

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Hawai'i Pacific University finished seventh and freshman Lily Landt sixth in the final round of 2022 PacWest Conference Championships at the Wigwam Resort's Gold Course.
 
The Sharks posted a final round 334 to fall to seventh with a total score of 979 for the tournament, four strokes behind sixth place Hawai'i Hilo at 975.
 
Landt of Reno, Nev./Wooster led the Sharks with a final round 8-over-par 80 on the par 72, 5,927-yard Wigwam tournament course to finish in a sixth place tie with Sami Penor of Biola at 14-over 230.
 
Landt had one birdie in the round at the par 4 15th, but suffered six bogeys before the birdie and came home par, double bogey, bogey to close the tournament.
 
Freshman Kellie Yamane of Aiea, Hawai'i/I'olani finished 20th in the field, carding an 86 in the final round for a 242. Freshman Clarissa Burhan of Las Vegas, Nev./Clark chalked up an 85 to total 253, while senior Cameron Kaneshiro of Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist Academy added an 86 for a 257 and freshman Kaila Bonawitz of Vancouver, Wash./Mountain View had the second-best score for the Sharks on the day with an 83 to finish the tournament at 258.
 
Biola came from behind with a 309 in the final round to win the championship with a 928, three strokes in front of Dominican who had a 313 to finish second at 931. Holy Names was third at 942, with Academy of Art fourth at 950 and Point Loma fifth at 965.
 
Dominican's Claire Shubin held on at the end to win the individual title, edging three-time champion Anahi Servin of Academy of Art by a stroke. Both fired a 1-over 73 on Wednesday, with Schubin winning at 5-over 221 ahead of Servin at 6-over 222. DUC's Angelica Antonio was third at 10-over 226.
 
The season comes to an end for the HPU women with the close of the PacWest tournament.
