INDIANAPOLIS — The Hawai'i Pacific University men's tennis team is the No. 2 seed for next week's NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championships at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla., a suburb of Orlando.
 
The Sharks (19-2), the top seed of the West Region and ranked fourth nationally by the ITA, were selected the second seed by the 2022 NCAA Division II Tennis Committee. They meet 15th seeded Texas-Tyler (13-5), the top seed in the South Central Region and ranked 39th by the ITA, in the round of 16 on Wednesday, May 18 at 6 a.m. HST (Noon EDT) at Sanlando Park.
 
The winner of the match advances to the quarterfinals on Thursday, May 19 at 6 a.m. HST (Noon EDT) against the winner of seventh seeded Flagler (Fla.) (18-4, No. 6 ITA) and 10th seeded Charleston (W.Va.) (21-2, No. 19 ITA).
 
The rest of HPU's side of the bracket has third seeded Barry (Fla.) (18-5, No. 2 ITA) against 16th seeded Edinboro (11-5, No. 64 ITA), and sixth seeded Indianapolis (16-4, No. 12 ITA) against 11th seeded Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) (15-3, No. 17 ITA).
 
The other half of the bracket features top seeded Columbus State (18-2, No. 1 ITA) versus 15th seeded Cameron (Okla.) (12-5, No. 40 ITA), eighth seeded Azusa Pacific (16-3, No. 14 ITA) battling ninth seeded LeMoyne (N.Y.) (17-0, No. 29 ITA), fifth seeded Embry-Riddle (Fla.) (14-4, No. 5 ITA) against 12th seeded Southern Arkansas (16-3, No. 13 ITA), and fourth seeded Wayne State (Mich.) (20-3, No. 10 ITA) against 13th seeded Southern New Hampshire (10-23, No. 54 ITA).
 
The national semifinal is set for Saturday, May 21 and the national championship is on tap for Sunday, May 22. Both matches are slated for 6 a.m. HST (Noon EDT).
