IRVINE, Calif. – The PacWest Conference announced this afternoon that graduate center
Abby Spurgin claimed her third PacWest Player of the Week award after continuing her barrage of the basket this past week.
This season Spurgin has broken the school record for points in a game and is leading the country in Division II with 26.8 points per game.
The Texas native collected her sixth and seventh game with 20 or more points this past week against Champion Christian and Concordia University Irvine. The Sharks picked up a final 2022 win against the Tigers, with Spurgin leading all scorers with 26 points. As the resumption of conference play kicked off the new year, the Sharks were locked in a battle with the Golden Eagles. Spurgin had her talents on full display with another 30-point game and collected four blocks as the Sharks came up short in the final seconds of overtime.
HPU continues their six-game conference home stretch to start 2023 on Thursday as they host Point Loma next in the Shark Tank at 4:30 p.m. You can catch all the action in person, online, or on Hawaii Sports Radio Network AM 760/FM 95.1.
