SANTA ROSA, Calif. - On Tuesday morning the HPU women's golf team finished the Sonoma State University Fall Invitational tied for second with CSU Monterey Bay and host Sonoma State. This marks the highest finish in program history at a tournament played in the mainland.
Kameron Kwong and
Clarissa Burhan set the pace for the Sharks as they both shot +3 over two rounds to finish tied for fifth, earning them All-Tournament Team honors. The pair made their presence known as Burhan was tied for the lead shooting -1 on Monday and Kwong averaged 4.75 strokes on Par-5s.
Coming off a 8th place outing, the Sharks as a team collectively rose to the occasion as Kwong, Burhan, Ellexis Mingming, and
Shuiyun He all placed in the top-20. Looking at the stats, Hawai'i Pacific was firing on all cylinders with 25 birdies (second highest total in the tournament), 109 pars (four players had 20-plus) and averaged 4.14 strokes on Par-4s (best team average).
For their efforts, HPU was recognized this morning by the PacWest Conference as their selection for
Team of the Week.
